Artist Statement:
Alena Applerose is a maker, baker and art educator living in the mountains of the South Toe River Valley in western North Carolina. Her work is heavily influenced by the natural world, family and cultural traditions and the ideas of reduce, reuse, recycle. She believes that life is meant to be adorned: body, mind and home. She lives this belief by creating handmade jewelry, hats, clothing, illustrations, prints and household objects designed to capture the playfulness and beauty of nature.
The Mermaid Fantasy cocktail ring, combines her love of the sea, mountains and sparkling baubles. This sterling silver floral and shell ring was made using the lost wax casting technique and features Swarovski crystals and cubic zirconium.
